BAZAR DE CHRISTIAN LACROIX
Born from the meeting between the Arles fashion designer Christian Lacroix and the press officer Jean-Jacques Picart, Maison Christian Lacroix was born thanks to the support of Mr. Bernard Arnault. Curiosity very quickly spread to Paris and the name of Christian Lacroix was on everyone's lips.
On July 26 of the same year, Christian Lacroix unveiled his first Haute Couture collection for Autumn-Winter 1987.
Sunny, opulent and virtuoso, this first collection was a tribute to the couturier's roots, whose Mediterranean influence permeated each silhouette. From Arlesian costumes revisited to bullfighters' capes, it is all the beauty of the South of France, from the Camargue to Provence, that Christian Lacroix sublimates in some sixty models.
This first flamboyant show with resounding success dusted off the hushed universe of Haute Couture of the 1980s and shook up the Parisian fashion of the time, whose taste was then for the minimalism of influential Japanese designers.
